(OT) posting

Okay, I'm confused. What is with the top posting in this NG.
I am probably old fashioned but it is confusing.

There does not seem to be any hard rules enforced, I generally bottom post unless having a conversation but mostly its either / or. There are a lot of newbies in here and the main men Alex, Zack and Colin don't seem to mind how people post probably cos they are far too busy answering the same questions ad nauseum to care much.

If you meant me, THANKS!
I actually am using Microsoft Mail, and have it only display unread messages, so all my replies will be in the thread I am replying to. Not sure what will happen when I start a thread...

I generally top post because more than likely I have already read the previous postings, so I don't want to read them again or have to scroll all the way to the bottom to see the response. With top posting I see the what I want to see first, then if I want to read what is being responded to, then I can scroll down and read it.

I think we should make MIDDLE POSTING the OFFICIAL POSTING METHOD of this ng

How about a sidebar gadget for side posting?

The non-standard of top posting came into effect when everyone started using Outhouse Distress to post to usenet. Dunno why MS decided to make it not follow standards.
-- Person who run in front of car get tired. Person who run behind car get exhausted.

Most people on this newsgroup don't care.
That goes for me too. I don't care.
I know that some people don't like top posting, because they write long messages telling us how it used to be in the old days.
My own pet peeves are posters who:
1) WRITE IN ALL CAPS
2) write in all lower case
3) Use IM type abreviations like u and ur or use the wrong forms of they're there, their or to, too, two
4) Don't break their posts up into paragraphs.
5) Obviously don't re-read their posts, to see if they make sense, before hitting send
